I didn't really enjoy the physical experiments and I don't think they added anything to my work, so I have decided not to do this for my final shoots and I will instead focus almost entirely on computer editing. However I may have a look at my final shoots after they are done and see if I want to explore physical experiments at all as I don't want to completely cut the idea out.

Image Bank - Personal Opinions
I am inspired by this photograph because it shows deforestation and I would like to research into this subject more to find the reasons behind it aside from wood production.

This photograph shows how much rubbish we get rid of and I think this is an important subject to address when talking about sustainability.
I would like to take photographs of rural areas, like the above two photographs, especially rural landscapes in urban areas, like Parks in London. Having rural areas like this in built up towns/cities means that the city can still have species diversity and it also means that there will be less carbon dioxide in the air that could cause smog.
I want to take photographs of urban areas as well as rural areas, to show the contrast and how we need more rural areas.
These photographs show sustainability because cycling is an incredibly sustainable way to travel, whilst still being quick, many people drive to work even when they can walk and I think that more people should bike or walk to work, it is a lot healthier for them, better for the planet, and better for their pocket!
I would like to take photographs of fruits and vegetables etc because I think they are a more sustainable food source than meat and dairy, animals use a lot of water to grow and to be able to produce milk, they also need to be fed a lot of food, some of which can be quite water dense.
I think this is important because the ways we make energy is incredibly unsustainable at the moment, although we are progressing towards more sustainable energies, the majority is still fossil fuels. Wind power will never run out, along with solar power, so becoming dependant on those energy sources is more sustainable than on fossil fuels, which will run out in the near future.

Shoot Six - Work Record
Evaluation:
I took photographs of food for this shoot, similar to my previous food shoot, but I kept the food in packaging this time, I also didn't take photographs of raw ingredients for this shoot. I didn't enjoy this shoot very much and I don't think that I will do a food shoot for my final exam.
This is the best photograph that I took for this shoot, I like that the nakd pack was in focus whilst the rest of the photograph was quite blurry. When I edited this photograph I used Tilt-Shift, this kept the nakd box in focus whilst unfocusing the rest of the photo even more, I think that it has created a really good affect because it drags the eye to the box rather than the other things in the photograph, without the photograph looking boring.
The camera settings for this photo were:
Shutter Speed: 1/6 seconds
F Stop: 3.5
ISO: 200
This is the worst photograph I took for this shoot, there is a shadow in the photograph that is from me when I was taking the photographs, although it doesn't matter too much, I should've noticed this when I was taking the photos and corrected it so that I wasn't creating a shadow, that way the photograph would've been much better.
Progression:
Although I enjoy working with still life like food and plants, I don't think that I will do this for my final exam, the reason for this is that I don't think the photographs will come out that well, even if I do them in the college studio. I will be looking more into transport for my next shoot and ways of traveling sustainably.
Connecting Essay Five
This is my photograph, I think that the two photographs are very similar because they are both wide shots, rather than taking the photograph of just the animal(s), we both included the landscape around them. I really like this photograph because it contrasts with the rest of the photographs from this shoot, most of them are very close up of the animals, whereas this one is from quite a distance. Another similarity is that the animals are both looking into the camera on our photographs.
This is a photo by Fay Godwin, I think they are similar because of the fence as well, both of them are standing next to a fence, however they are different because in Godwin's photograph the fence is broken, however in my photograph it isn't. Overall I think that our photographs are very similar and I really love her style of photography, it is so simple and extremely beautiful.

Shoot Eight - Work Record
Evaluation:
For this shoot, I visited the local woods where some trees had been cut down, I wanted to show the after effects of deforestation, although this is a lot more small scale, it seemed very needless in my opinion. I felt as though this would show how unsustainably we live, this shoot shows that because we can see that someone has cut down the trees for no more reason than to make the area seem more open.
I felt that these photographs could look good in contrast next to photos of trees that haven't been cut down, I would've liked to take photographs of the trees in that area before and after they were cut down because I think this would create an amazing contrast, however I didn't know they were going to be cut down so I wasn't able to do this.
In my opinion this is my best photograph, I really like the angle that I took this photograph from and I like the placing of the tree stumps in the photograph, I think that the bold orange colour against the browns and greens is very eye catching and that it would drag the eye towards that rather than other little things in the photograph.
Camera settings:
f stop: 5.0
ISO: 200
Exposure: 1/800 secs
This photograph is my worst photograph because I think that it just looks very barren and the photograph is a very similar colour all over.
Camera settings:
f stop: 5.0
ISO: 200
Exposure: 1/800 secs
Progression:
Next shoot I will be aiming to take photographs of rubbish and litter to show how we are polluting our planet by creating too much rubbish. I would like to visit my local dump because I think the photographs I could get there would look really good. I don't think I will be taking photographs of trees for my final shoot because in my opinion it's too early in the year for the trees to look especially good.
